The 8th grade promotion committee will hold it’s first parent meeting on Tuesday October 6th at 7:00PM in the library.  We encourage all 8th grade parents interested in planning this exciting event to come out and help start the planning process.

For those of you who aren’t aware, this celebration is entirely hosted by the 8th grade parents; it is their “gift” to their students. Without parent help now and throughout the year, promotion cannot be the special event that your child has seen others before him/her experience.

There are a variety of areas where you can help. Please see the flyer for more information regarding 8th grade promotion planning.

Welcome back to school. The Christensen PTA has already begun working on events and activities for this coming year. Our PTA works in conjunction with the staff at CMS to provide funding, social events and various other programs to supplement and enrich the educational experience for all students. Your student’s time here at CMS will help build a strong foundation that will carry them into high school and help them achieve their goals. Please take a moment to look over the following information.

Every year PTA is asked to support school programs in many different capacities. It is because of the generosity of families like yours that we have been able to do so. THANK YOU.

E-SCRIP!

Thanks to your support, our e-scrip program has been a great success. Please take a few moments to register and renew your e-scrip support to Andrew Christensen Middle School by going online www.escrip.com . CMS supporter group number is 137117843 Christensen will receive a percentage of your purchases from participating retailers. We encourage everyone to register your Safeway and PW cards. CMS PTA will do the rest. Last year e-scrip contributions added up to more than $7,500.

PTA Donation Fundraiser and Bingo!!

This year we have opted to give families the choice to make a straight PTA donation. Please give what you can. Together we can make Christensen Middle School a positive experience for all students. Please use the PTA envelope provided so that we can send you a thank you receipt for your tax-deductible donation and your PTA membership.

Did you know that our major fundraiser throughout the school year is BINGO?? CMS has the unique opportunity to earn 50% of the proceeds from our Saturday night at the Bingo Ranch here in Livermore. We have had several successful evenings and greatly appreciate all of the hours that our volunteers have given over the last year! Last year CMS PTA made total of $15,899. We need at least ten volunteers each session to assure that the evening runs smoothly! If you are interested in being added to our volunteer list please contact Ian Murphy . Many of our volunteers are there for only a couple of hours. If you or your friends enjoy playing bingo we encourage you to come out to one of CMS’ Bingo nights! You could walk away winning the $1,199 flash board game! Our upcoming bingo nights are 8/29, 9/12, 9/26, 10/10, 10/24, 11/7, 11/21, 12/5 and 12/19.

PTA Membership

We encourage everyone to become a member of the PTA. Annual dues are only $10 per person. To join, simply fill out the a membership application and return it to the school.

Volunteers are needed

Christensen PTA is successful because of the volunteers like you who donate their time, knowledge and talents. There are many ways to volunteer. We greatly appreciate your support. We can’t do it without you!

School Wear

Show your school support by wearing a CMS Cougars T-Shirt or sweatshirt. Samples are available for viewing at the PTA table. Pre-order forms are attached and we’ll deliver orders to your student’s core class.

PTA Meetings

Our first PTA meeting will be on Wednesday September 16 at 7:00pm in the school library. We will approve a budget for the 2009-2010 school year at the meeting. Please plan to join us. We meet on the 3^rd Wednesday of every month. Getting involved in PTA is a great way to stay involved with your student and Christensen Middle School. Thank you for your support!
